Spring has gone to my head.

So, spring is officially OFFICIALLY here.  The hydrangeas in my garden are just coming into leaf, I hear birds singing at shut-the-hell-up o’clock every morning, and my neighbour’s pink jasmine (below) is in full flower already.  Sometimes the lively freshness of spring seeping into the world makes me want to have a whole new wardrobe to go with it, but since that isn’t going to happen, I just have to stare a little longer into my closet and try to put things together in a fresh way.  That is what I did today.  Nothing here is new, but it feels new since I’ve never worn any of these things together in quite this way before.  I started off with this sparkly Swarovski crystal headband from Louis Mariette and then worked my way down from there.  Louis used to be a neighbour of mine, and I bought this from him when I bought the headpiece that I wore for my wedding.  I saw this one at the same time and given my love of anything bright and sparkly, I couldn’t resist it.

You’ve seen my favourite coat and my much-loved fox clutch on the blog before.  If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve also seen these kooky MiuMiu shoes (a Christmas present from my husband) a couple of times.

Today I wore them all together with some sky blue socks (because, why not, it IS spring after all), a sequin (of course) striped dress under the coat, and the crystal headband.  There is blue and orange in all of my accessories, so that  is what ties it all together for me… one single thread of logic linking all of the crazy together!  Not much else is needed with the headband perched upon my head and the bonkers happening on my feet,  so I tried to keep the in-between relatively simple.  If you can’t be ‘More is More’ when winter’s greyness gets pushed back and melts away and spring uncurls her leaves and flowers, then when can you?

I’m  making an effort to dig into the exiled section of my wardrobe, to find some unloved things that perhaps I can breathe some new life into for spring, and if not, then I’m going to donate them and let someone else have a shot.  I did this last year, around the same time, remember?

I hope you’re having a relaxing and restorative long Easter weekend.  Is spring making you do any irrational shopping or outlandish wardrobe pairings, as it has for me today?!

I’ll be keeping my eye some other bloggers’ spring looks like Catherine’s NotDressedAsLamb linkup here, or  in Patti’s NotDeadYetStyle link up here.  Check them out for some Spring inspiration!

Clearly gazing deep into your wardrobe does wonders for your creativity. Can’t wait to have an actual wardrobe of my own very soon hahaha.

Great outfit! I love the headband! Wonderful piece!

And I love how combining pieces already in your closet in a new way can really make them feel different and fresh.

I think you look incredible! I’m so envious of bloggers like you (and Catherine of Not Dressed as Lamb for example) and your ability to create such fabulous outfits like this. I love the idea of socks with pretty shoes but I’d feel so weird doing it! I really need to get over my fear, don’t I?!

Thank you so much, Suzy! I think you feel weird the first time you wear socks with heels, and then after that it is no big deal; wear it at home first to get used to it. Catherine really is the High Priestess of pattern and colour mixing isn’t she? Let us both lead you to the fearless land, 😀 xx

What a piece! I loved your wedding tiara and I certainly adore this one. I don’t own any headbands but have tones of brooches etc. so we definitely share the love for sparkly stuff. And I’m happy to see some sequins up there 🙂 Thank heavens spring has arrived … xx Abby

I’m girding my loins in readiness for a spot of wardrobe sorting myself. I’m not sure I’ll find anything as wonderfully sparkly as your headpiece though Lisa – more’s the pity!

Quirky and I love it. I just witnessed the Monique Lhuillier runway show and she paired all her looks with sequin bobby socks. It was love at first sight for me. I’m on the hunt for a few pair. Your look is such a punch of fun.

I love the idea of sequin bobby socks! I need to get my hands (and feet!) on some, or maybe even embark on some DIY ones. Thank you, Mizz Glenda xx
