What I Wore For A Day At Stoke Park with Winser London

Winser London invited me to join them at Stoke Park (along with a few other bloggers, one being my dear friend Michelle from RetroChicMama) to celebrate their fourth ‘birthday’ as a brand.  Stoke Park is a family-owned hotel, spa, golf course, and country club set on 300 acres in Buckinghamshire, about half an hour from London.  The idea for Winser London was born here, so it was a fitting place for its birthday party.  Stoke Park was originally the home of the Penn family (who founded Pennsylvania, where I lived once upon a time), and has been the location for many movies.  You can read about them here.  I remember it from Bridget Jones; this is where Bridget and Daniel escape for their disastrous dirty weekend.  We even did our getting ready preparations in the Pennsylvania Suite, which is the bedroom from that movie.  Here is the view right out the bedroom window.  I’m not a golfer, but I couldn’t take my eyes away from this view!

To help us get ready, there was a hair and makeup artist on hand (the Delilah makeup used was so good I’ve just ordered some).  The photographers shot photos of us wearing Winser London on the grounds of Stoke Park in the morning before a fantastic high tea in the afternoon.  I even had a golf cart ferry me around to a few locations because it was so hot and windy that day, as you can tell from the photos.  I could really get accustomed to having a golf cart take me and my (often) impractical shoes around.  You can tell how pleased I am!

Since I first discovered it, I have been crazy about the exact colour (not too blue, not too orange, just clear perfect red) that Winser London uses for their ‘Hollywood Red’ clothes.  For this shoot, I chose the fitted cotton pencil skirt, the merino red knit coat (which I also have from last year in chambray blue), and their cashmere scoop neck jumper in chambray blue.

Steps Stoke Winser Hollywood Red

Light blue and red is my favourite colour combination which is why I chose this mix.  I added my own colourful necklace and ring, some sparkly glitter-is-a-neutral shoes, and that’s it.  The colours do all the work.  I’m not a banker anymore, but if I was, this is exactly the sort of thing I’d wear (without the jewellery, of course) to the office.  ‘Soft suiting’ knitwear is especially brilliant for travel or sitting at a desk all day because it doesn’t crease, but is still comfortable.

I chose a second and entirely different outfit (which I loved so much it came home with me!) that I’ll show you in the next post when I tell you about the rest of our day.

Thank you again to the whole team at Winser London for spoiling us!

You look fabulous! Oh what a day that must have been! And can I just be completely honest here and say I have NEVER thought to wear red and pale blue together?(I know right?) Those shades are so perfect on you and they really compliment your skin and hair. Lovely as always and I’m completely drooling over the photographs,

It is an unusual colour combination, but one I’ve always loved. I see it in Indian fashion more than in Western fashion.

It was such a lovely day, and a place you should visit when you’re in the UK, Melissa. There is even a spa! Thank you for your kind comments, beautiful. xx

I love this outfit! I love the elegance and strength of the look! I like red passion at its best and combination with white. The coat is very elegant and the pencil skirt looks wonderful on you. I love accessories and jewelry. Necklace and ring are two wonders.

I’m picturing their next campaign with you & YLB the blonde & the brunette together perfectly complimenting each other. Naturally you’ll both be dripping in The Sequinists jewels 😉

Beautiful pictures, Lisa. Beautiful you amidst a beautiful setting 🙂 and so true, that pastel blue with red mix is such a saree fabric staple, and I can’t imagine why I’ve never even once thought of trying it out myself. Once upon a time, this would be a uniform of sorts for me as well. Although, I’d have a leather top and pants instead of jumper with skirt because you make them look divine, I wouldn’t have been able to xoxo

This suits you like a T. It is really lovely on you, very feminine, not too short, not too long. And your jewellery is adding another layer of interest to the outfit. The shoes are clever with this outfit. My problem with knitwear (apart from looking strange on my stick-like figure) is that it sags so much. For instance around the bum area. Or is this quality so good, that it doesn’t do that?

Thank you, Miss Greetje. I’ve never worn much knitwear until I started wearing Winser London. Kim Winser worked at Pringle and Aquascutum before she started her own brand, so there is nothing this woman doesn’t know about knits! I never have any sagging with their stuff… and I have A LOT! xx
