As you may know from my About Me page, I am not a pink, floral, girly kind of gal. I am quite at home in sequins and biker boots, but I try to challenge myself sometimes to wear looks that are out of my comfort zone… Outfits that are a little more lady-like, but not quite veering into properly girly territory. While shopping in & Other Stories, I liked the effect of this pearl blouse (I am SO not a blouse person, but here I am, full-on blousing) with a pleated pearl skirt that matches but doesn’t really match. The store wasn’t recommending these two items to be worn together, but I bought them anyway. Then I got home and wondered what had possessed me to buy this. I mean, being a Swedish store, it is filled with metallics, black, studs, leather, etc… all my cup of tea! I would be spoiled for choice to find something that slots easily into my closet. This outfit was all a little too sweet and precious for me, so I toughened it up with some studded heels and a leather trimmed coat. I almost feel like I am wearing someone else’s clothes, but then again, that is the whole point of having fun with Style– to play dress up now and again, to experiment. As reader Maggie says, it is like being your own Barbie! Are you your own Barbie sometimes?
