There are a few days where my schedule really determines my outfit. Today, I had a very full (and very dull) schedule of errands to accomplish, which involved a LOT of walking. That ruled out any shoes with a serious heel. Sometimes, I can’t bring myself to wear a sneaker… I just can’t. Yes, Athleisure has made it acceptable and even fashionable to wear sneakers with everything from jeans to a slip dress, but in the words of Johnny Cash, ‘No, no, no, it ain’t me, babe.” So, for today’s dressed down day, I wore these silver glitter boots that I bought a few summers ago. Since it is the last few days of cold weather, I thought I’d wheel out my wool cape (worn before here) one last time before packing it away until next autumn. Due to a particularly bad hair day, I grabbed a cashmere beanie to hide the evidence. A cozy grey cashmere sweater, black trousers, and I was off!
To add some ‘me’ to an off-duty outfit where sparkling statement jewellery doesn’t quite work, I wore this fox earring and necklace set. Anyone who knows me in real life knows I am OBSESSED with foxes. Beyond obsessed, probably. My son (who has zero interest in foxes) has had to endure a fox bedroom theme and endless children’s clothes all emblazoned with various foxes motifs. So, of course, I think these sterling silver foxes are absolutely gorgeous.
I never feel fully dressed without something sparkly, so I relied on my Lizzy O wrap bracelets for shine. Speaking of shine I added this very functional dove grey tote bag which has a motto I can totally appreciate. Even on this, the dullest and most tedious of days, I have a very visible reminder to Shine Bright!

Trousers: Winser London

Now have a look at the what some other ladies from the Over 40 Collective chose from Aspire Style. If you see anything you like on the Aspire website, you can get 10% off using the code OVER40 from now until the end of the month. I personally think these Katie Loxon pouches make fabulous presents to keep on hand.

March 9, 2017 at 6:34 PMFabulous outfit Lisa! The sparkly boots are gorgeous – I have some similar, although mine are made of a sparkly fabric rather than glittery like yours. I love foxes too, they are beautiful creatures 🙂

March 9, 2017 at 6:36 PMOh Lisa, even on a dressed down day you’re full of sparkle. It’s as though your clothes are irrelevant because the sparkle of your personality just shines. Thank you for being such a fabulous model for the Lizzy O wrap bracelet and yes, those foxes are so you! xxx
Lisa
March 9, 2017 at 6:50 PMThank you so much, sweet Liz. I adore my wrap bracelets; the SPARKLE is amazing. I’m so thrilled with the foxes. I was hoping to photograph them at a fox rescue sanctuary that my friend runs, but the babies haven’t been born yet. HOW am I going to work them into another blog post, LOL! xx

March 9, 2017 at 8:03 PMI adore that beret on you Lisa. And, as Liz says, your so full of sparkle – even the dullest of day wouldn’t dare try to dull your shine! Did I tell you that we saw a fox on New Year’s Eve? It was almost close enough to touch and was sitting on a bridge near our boat. Made my New Year!

March 9, 2017 at 11:02 PMHa You say dull I say Fabulous! This outfit is super stylish lady & you can’t deny it. The foxes are adorable but it’s the beanie, Cape & glasses combo that makes this so rock n roll ?
Lisa
March 10, 2017 at 8:43 PMThanks so much, Michelle! I’m glad you like it. A beanie, cape, and glasses hide a multitude of things while still managing to look like you’ve made some effort! xx

March 10, 2017 at 2:27 PMHahahaha LOVE LOVE LOVE this. And by that, I don’t mean just the outfit, Lisa. More so the thought process behind how you assembled things together 🙂 I too am a smidge anti-sneaker, that it until I came across a pair of Nikes that have been sparklified beyond imagination.
p/s foxes are adorable, so intelligent and inquisitive xoxo
Lisa
March 10, 2017 at 8:39 PMOooooo, I might need to see those Nikes! Saucony did some brilliant navy or red glitter sneakers with ASOS, but I didn’t get my hands on my size in time (sob).
There are LOADS of wild foxes in London, so I see them in my garden almost daily. HEAVEN! Soon there will be babies… xx

March 10, 2017 at 3:59 PMWhat started as “what can I wear that is comfortable” turned out to be a very stylish outfit. Really good. The bag is a very good choice with it. I have learned something new about you: foxes. Right.
