You need a sequin skirt. You just do. It is one of those Style “bucket list” items. I don’t care how old you are or what your issues with your figure are, you still need one. Imagine in the dreary days of winter, how nice it will be to see a little glimmer of sequins peeking out from underneath your winter coat.
And when Christmas season comes around, you’ll already have something sparkly you can pull out to wear to holiday parties…dressed up with a lovely blouse for an evening out, or worn casually with a sweater and tights for a party at someone’s home. Depending on where you live, you can even wear it in the daytime (I’m in London, so pretty much anything goes here!) If you’re worried about over-emphasising a generous booty or tummy with sequins, just style your skirt with a drapey sweater, or a longline light blazer. Whatever length and shape of skirt works best on you, a mini skirt, a midi skirt, a pencil skirt, or a maxi skirt, just find a sequin one! Life is too short and winter is too long for you to go without owning a sequin skirt. Here are a few that have caught my eye, including one (the first one) that I bought recently and have worn to death already.
Perfect Silver Sequin Pencil Skirt, worn nonchalantly with a sweater
Iridescent Marble Grey Sequin Skirt, super with a tee shirt or winter knitwear
Petite Midi Skirt in Silver (ASOS also has this in non-petite sizes)
Patterned Maxi Skirt, I’d wear this with tights, ankle boots, and a nice chunky sweater rather than the TINY crop top in the link!
Let me know in the comments if you get one, or if you already have one, and how you wear it. This silver one works for me four seasons of the year, and dressed up or down; I can’t imagine life without it!

November 12, 2014 at 1:49 AMI couldn’t agree more, my stylish sister! I purchased one several years ago when I really needed a cocktail dress for a holiday party given by the company I work for. Everything looked like prom, Mother-of-the-Bride, or Kim Kardashian! I finally decided that my beautiful black wool blazer I had in the closet already, with it’s velvet lapel and giant rhinestone buttons would be perfect for a “corporate event”. I could always wear it with a simple black pencil skirt or black slacks for a tuxedo effect. After all, this was my style anyway. So when I happened to find the perfect black sequin skirt, I was elated! It was slightly A-lne, but I had it altered to a slim, tapered line and viola! It has become my favorite go-to separate when I want something just a little bit special. I’ve since worn it with a crisp white blouse topped with a black cardi with sparkly buttons, and a black v-neck cashmere sweater and a glam statement necklace, as well as several other mix and match pieces. I recently saw a long silver one that I may have to go check out again.
Anyhoo, when it comes to sequins…I’m a believer!

November 27, 2015 at 8:18 PMThank you, sweet Michelle! A sequin skirt is pretty much my signature piece; I LOVE them. I wore this one with a sweatshirt somewhere else on the blog… and there’s a long black sequin skirt with a chunky cardigan somewhere (you’ve already go that!). I think you need one too 🙂

July 15, 2016 at 3:32 PMThere goes that gorgeous silvery gold sequined skirt again. I think (like you said) looks great and pumps you up to have a great day in Winter, under a heavy wool coat.
