You Need To Know About: & Other Stories

So, I recently bought this sixties-ish Shift Dress from & Other Stories, a Swedish brand that I love.  They’ve just opened a store in New York, London, and Paris AND have an online store, so I highly recommend checking them out.  They do some amazing collaborations with other designers (one last summer with Vika Gazinskaya which blew my mind), and everything is very reasonably priced.  They do bonkers jewellery and shoes (which as you know from reading this blog is right up my Style street) as well as gorgeous, well-made sweaters, skirts, trousers, coats, etc.  My husband pointed out when we were in the Paris store recently that there were older ladies, teenage girls, hipsters, and norm-core types, all clamouring over the racks of clothes and accessories.  There really is something for everyone in there.  Like Topshop, it is one of those stores where I always walk out with something because the price is good and the Style is great.

I’ll feature a few other pieces from & Other Stories, but first up is this wear absolutely anywhere dress (which comes in purple or black) with a simple silk shirt underneath it.  I don’t have anything in my closet with this 60’s schoolgirl or nun vibe, and I’ve never owned anything as basic as a white silk shirt before, but even at 45, there is a first time for everything. I have been wearing this terribly comfortable outfit on repeat all holiday season long.  If I look strained and pained in these photographs, I can assure you that it is not the clothes’ fault,  but rather the HOWLING wind and just-above-freezing temperatures while I was photographing this dress.  I was determined not to ruin it with a coat.  I was also determined to get some photos in front of the always-magical Christmas lights on Orange Square, my favourite square in London. I’m like that, altruistically suffering for Style and for you, dear readers.

You’ll see that the only thing between me and the sharp teeth in the biting wind is the dress and my beloved completely opaque black tights, which enable me to wear this fairly short dress without looking tarty.

Another thing I’m wearing here is a stack of Maison Margiela rings that I wear all the time, so I feel it is about time for them to make their debut on the blog.  They aren’t new, but they are much loved.  For me, they are that little twist that keeps an outfit (any outfit!) stylish and current without trying too hard.  I am not one of those lucky ladies with long elegant gorgeous hands, but I still wear look-at-my-hands-dammit statement rings because they make me happy.  Without further ado, let me introduce you to my rings (all festively posed); I hope you enjoy discovering & Other Stories as much as I have.
