I decided to do something a little different today. ย I’m starting a video series where I talk about my five favourite finds every month. ย Sometimes they’ll be beauty or style related, sometimes they’ll be completely random (like some in this months’s offering). ย I hope you like it, but if you don’t, please do tell me that as well! I’ve found that video is so different to writing a blog… you can’t think of things and add them in a day or two later, that is for sure. ย This video isn’t perfect, but done is better than perfect. ๐
Without further ado, here are my five favourite things for this month, and links to each of them at the bottom.

December 3, 2017 at 11:08 PMHa! Well, thank you SO MUCH Emma. I can’t believe how much video I shot to get 5 minutes that were usable! The lash serum is working well (almost TOO well!). The lipstick is Laura Mercier Mon Cheri… it would be great on you too. xx

December 4, 2017 at 7:01 AMAn almost perfect format, you give a beautiful image in the video. Although my interest is fashion and your outfits, I found it very interesting to hear your voice.
Lisa
December 4, 2017 at 10:03 AMThanks, Josep-Maria. It is always nice to hear someone’s voice, isn’t it? xx

December 4, 2017 at 5:21 PMThank you SO much Suzy! I’ve never done a YouTube video before (I have NO IDEA what I’m doing) so I learned as I made it. Thank you so much for your kind comments and your support. xxx

December 4, 2017 at 2:35 PMLoved it! Ordered the spiralizer toute suite. You are inspiring me to consider video! I just don’t know how I’d use it. And how to look as flawless as you, Lisa?!
Lisa
December 4, 2017 at 6:10 PMI actually travel with that spiralizer (filed under #obsessive and also under #sadbuttrue!). Let me know if you need any guidance with zucchini spiralling! Rule number one is NEVER let them touch water… just pan cook them or they get soggy and sad.
Definitely do some video! Take us on a vintage trawl with you! xx

December 4, 2017 at 3:34 PMI’ve downloaded that Calm App because my sleep pattern have been all over the place lately. In an ideal world I would be asleep before midnight and up between 8 and 8.30am. Seeing as I’m self-employed, it’s winter and I live in Scotland there’s a good chance I could sleep in till midday and find I’ve missed most of the daylight. So I’m looking forward to trying this out. I’m already quite taken by the thunderstorm sounds I can play through my iPhone! ๐
Lisa
December 4, 2017 at 6:15 PMOH Emerald, I so hope this app helps you as much as it has helped me. There is a sleep story by May Charters (in the sleep section of the app) called Scotland’s Hidden Hideaways. Her voice is pure heaven and her story sends me right to sleep. The rain sounds on the customisable home page are so relaxing. Let me know how you get on with it! The seven day trial is such a winner. xx

December 4, 2017 at 5:15 PMPerfection, my dear! Just lovely from start to finish.Did you feel like the video was exhausting to shoot and edit? Yours look so professional, do you mind if I ask what editing software you used? Did you like it? Also that spiralizer is a game changer! I’ve never seen one so small! Thanks for that!

December 4, 2017 at 6:19 PMThank you, Melissa! I learned a LITTLE about video editing from the Nivea one I did. I learned a lot more doing this video. I honestly have NO idea what I’m doing, but the Filmora software I used is pretty basic. It doesn’t do lots, but it does what I need it to, which is mostly cutting out the bad takes (and swearing!) and adding in some text. Filmora is pretty hard to screw up, so yes, I’d recommend it! xx

December 4, 2017 at 8:47 PMRight… that was new. My God woman, can you be any more perfect? You talk about eczema in your face and I just stare at that flawless face with these big wide open blue eyes and think “what is she talking about??” I know it troubles you from time to time, but heck it never shows. I have to come over and let you do my make-up one day. I am never interested in make-up or make-up products (something weird about me), but I do want to look like you (Yeah, as if… ever..).
Anyway, I listed to your video and I liked it. You do an excellent job. But if you put the question to me, do you like a video more or a blogpost, then it is the latter. Is it my age? I don’t think so. The entertainment quality of the written word is just different. You can tell and show us more in writing than in a video. Unless you take your camera with you all day, all week and edit it. But there is also a difference in consuming the two things. Perhaps, as you suggested, do one video each month? You can see by your statistics how well they perform. Nothing is as good as the facts to give you insight.
Do you use a video camera? Or your iPhone? I love to see the unedited version one day, the one with the swearing haha.

December 4, 2017 at 9:32 PMLOL! Yep, that was new alright! I have the eczema dragon in his cave at the moment. Once he comes out, it is impossible to get him back in. Thank you so much for your compliments, although I’m not sure I deserve them!
I agree that for me too, a blog post it more enjoyable than a video. It is totally different content. As you point out, we ‘consume’ them in different ways. Sometimes (certainly in a how-to video) video is easier than writing an explanation. But I am a photography person, and I prefer still photos to moving ones. I’ll probably do these once a month in addition to the weekly style/outfit posts, rather than in place of them. We’ll see if people like them or not.
I’m using a little video camera instead of my phone. The sound quality was so awful on my phone (I learned in the Nivea video) I needed to buy a video camera. I’ll make you a clip of all the swears if I can find the time ๐ xx

December 5, 2017 at 9:46 AMLisa I’m crying into my tea here because you look SO utterly beautiful, you sound amazing and come across so well… honestly woman you were made to be in front of a camera!!!!! In fact, what Greetje said. You are a joy to watch! I definitely don’t want you to give up the blog posts because they’re fantastic, but if this video is pretty much a first attempt then WOW how good are you going to be once you’ve done a few?!!!
You’ve made me want to buy everything you’ve talked about because I was so mesmerised (which is weird because I know you so well and spent two days with you just last week, lol)!

December 5, 2017 at 9:48 AM(I forgot to mention Keith’s reaction when I showed him your vid… his reaction was unprintable, but let’s just say it was somewhat complimentary ๐
Lisa
December 5, 2017 at 10:11 AMHahaha, that is a compliment indeed, because he knows his way around photography and filming. Fanks, lovely Keef. xx
Lisa
December 5, 2017 at 10:10 AMThank you SOOOO MUCH, Catherine! I was so nervous about doing video… they’re HARD, as you know. Too chatty = irritating. Too factual = cold and impersonal. I’m not sure I’m getting it right yet, but I’m learning! It is all your fault for recommending that vlogging camera ๐
I’m thrilled that you want to get everything because they really are all such fantastic products that I genuinely adore; you’re welcome to borrow and try out anything you like when I see you next. If YOU want them, I must be finding good stuff! xx

December 5, 2017 at 10:51 AMLovely video, I agree on what others said about your voice. Stephen Fry for a bedtime story though??? Hahaha
Lisa
December 6, 2017 at 2:52 PMThank you, Nancy! Ohhhhh yes, trust me, Stephen Fry telling you a bedtime story or reading you a poem is pure bliss! xx

December 5, 2017 at 2:20 PMLOVE LOVE LOVE that video! What confidence, what professionalism! Keep filming my Video Guru! Plus, I will definitely check out that Lash Booster for the 5 eye lashes I have left ?! Lots of love! xx Abby
Lisa
December 6, 2017 at 2:53 PMTHANK YOU, Abby! It means so much to hear that you liked it. Video is HARD; so different to a blog post, that is for sure. The Lash Boost is unbelievable. This one is even better than the previous Neulash I’ve been using for ages. Lots of love to you xx

December 6, 2017 at 10:59 AMOh, Lisa! Everyone’s right — you’re shockingly beautiful and a natural in front of the camera. You have every attribute required to be a successful spokesperson, model, TV or vid-blogging personality. Best of all, you’re so intelligent and articulate!
Good on you for going in this direction. I’m such a fan! ๐
Lisa
December 6, 2017 at 2:58 PMThank you SO MUCH, Ann. I was really scared to make a video, but I love to do things that scare me, so here we are! Thank you for your incredibly kind words and encouragement. It makes me so very happy that you liked it. ๐

December 6, 2017 at 6:27 PMYAY I love this Lisa! What an absolutely brilliant idea you’ve come up with here. You have incredible screen presence & I know what I’m talking about having worked in live television for over 10 years. I couldn’t think of anyone more perfect. You’d better watch out, there will be an agent knocking at your door any day now. xxx

December 7, 2017 at 9:37 AMThank you, my friend. That is really so nice of you to say! I hope my videos get better, but I’m happy enough with my first attempt. xx

December 8, 2017 at 8:19 AMLisa, perfection is the enemy of excellence! So you are so right about just doing it. Love, Lieske
Lisa
December 8, 2017 at 8:51 PMPerfection really is the enemy of excellence! I have learned that just like eggs, lots of things can be overcooked, so I’m just putting them on the plate when they’re ready rather than perfect ๐ Thank you, lovely. xx

December 12, 2017 at 4:53 AMI’ll be sure to keep the R+F serum in mind since my skin has became dry like the Sahara these past few months. The multi-layers of the Korean skincare ritual is beginning to become more appealing.
Lisa
December 13, 2017 at 9:22 PMOh, it is really unctuous and hydrating. See if you can get your hands on a sample of it from a R+F salesperson (like Karen!). I’m all about layering and rotating my products on the eczema patches. xx
