Jacket: ASOS Trousers (old): Stella McCartney Shoes: Kurt Geiger Sunglasses: ZeroUV Bag: Hermes
I ran across this jacket online a few months ago and I HAD to have it; I knew that I was unable to live another spring without it in my life. I love the cozy oatmeal colour and the *soft fabric (almost like a children’s toy, but not quite), but here’s what I love most about it: Pockets! FOUR big pockets! If I’m walking my dogs, I can put everything that I (or they) might possibly need for the next hour in those pockets. If I’m running around town on my own, I can skip the handbag and my put cash, credit card, and keys in them, and go. It is liberating not to carry a handbag sometimes… you could do a cartwheel if you want, or walk like an Egyptian, or break into a sprint for the bus without your purse contents flying everywhere. I’m really enjoying the sheer usefulness of the appropriately-named Utility jacket.
As you can see, I styled this jacket the same way I style most everything, with my beloved black staples! Which brings me to another point I keep meaning to mention on here… I like blogging about style because to me, it is much more interesting than fashion. You will see me wearing the SAME black glitter heels because they make me happy (and are crazy comfortable), the same black trousers that suit my style, and the same Hermes collier de chien cuffs that say ‘I’m not a girly girl; watch out.’

While I enjoy reading fashion blogs, I’m much more interested in personal style blogs. Plus, with a toddler, I don’t have the time or interest to do the amount of shopping required for a proper fashion blog. Being covered in head to toe newness feels a little pointless to me somehow, and you don’t need to have new things to be stylish, in the same way that you don’t have to have the most recent Chantecaille eyeshadow palette to be beautiful. Instead, I like welcoming a new thing here or there (especially a useful find like this jacket) into my wardrobe which will get along nicely with everything else in there.
*The coat arrived with a tag that said something along the lines of “Due to the soft nature of this fabric, some pilling may occur”. I’ve not had this problem with mine, but I thought I’d share it with you just in case you order this coat and then hate me forever because ‘some pilling’ occurs.

April 23, 2015 at 10:03 PMThank you, Cynthia. I can’t really do the sugared almond colours without looking like Alice in Wonderland or a Stepford Wife! xx

April 25, 2015 at 3:03 PMDear Stylopedia,
I’m hooked on your blog, for various reasons: you have my favourite bags (and OMG not even one but two):)))), you live in two of my favourites cities (Paris and London (and therefore make me miss London a lot:)))), you have a classic style (which we share, and like I said, if ever you’re tempted to do a giwe-away I’m in), you’re a Leo (which kind of explains all above) and thus you allow me to live my life through you (and thank you for that:)

April 25, 2015 at 3:17 PMIt is SO mutual, Abby! I love your blog too. I think we’re going to have to arrange to meet up in Paris one day, or London if you prefer?!

April 25, 2015 at 3:25 PMDear Stylopedia,
I forgot to add this: what a genius idea to name your blog Stylopedia=Style+Encyclopedia! And looking at your pictures I think you live in South Kensington (or at least that’s where the pictures were taken), am I right? We used to live in Stanhope Gardens, not far from Gloucester Road, and I would walk to Harrods, Sloane Street and King’s Road to do my shopping. I miss that a lot:)

April 26, 2015 at 11:59 AMThank you, Abby! It was almost InStyleopedia, but I didn’t want to have overlap with In Style magazine. The photos in this post were taken in Shepherds Bush, but the street looks very South Ken. We lived in Onslow Gardens before, so right near where you were!
