We had a few grey leaden days in a row last week. This always makes me want to dip into the more colourful side of my closet! As often happens, I started with the shoes and dressed upwards from there.
My four year old son and I went shopping on my birthday in August. He LOVED these green satin boots and insisted I buy them. Green is his favourite colour, so if there is ever a choice of colour for anything, his answer is green. He especially likes the “golden dragons” on the boots. They’re actually birds, but who am I to argue with a four year old who is encouraging me to buy new shoes? We both walked away very pleased with my purchase.
So they’d be very visible, I wore the boots with these deep cuffed jeans. The jury is still out on the jeans. I don’t find them very flattering, and the unusual proportions make wearing them with coats quite tricky. Shorter coats are ok, and a very long coat works, but anything in between just looks messy and awkward. They’re fine with a sweater though. This butter yellow coat (also worn here) works better than any other coat I have, and just so happens to match the flowers in the boots nicely.
I still wanted more colour though, so I broke out this blue crystal necklace and matching earrings from Eternal Collection which I’ve been dying to wear. The two tones of blue work beautifully with any colour of denim, which is why I chose them. I specifically wanted statement sparkle that was easy to wear for daytime and easy to wear with jeans. My mantra is always More Is More, so I layered two of the necklaces to make a little more of a statement (there is a chain in the back to adjust the length). Though I don’t like floral fabrics much, I absolutely adore flowers in jewellery; I have lots of earrings and necklaces with a floral motif. These blue spiky flowers are a very welcome addition to my collection!
The sun came out for 2 minutes, just long enough to get this photo of the stones in the necklaces.

November 16, 2017 at 11:27 AMThank you so much, Rozanne. I find it so cheery and uplifting to wear colour in a sea of black. I do love black, but some days it feels better to be a parrot! xx

November 15, 2017 at 8:06 AMOMG, what impact does this look have! The combination of colors is daring, and your pants … too. I love the coat and also your bag and your booties. I also like the elegance of your blouse and that delicate necklace. Green, yellow, blue … colors that impact and do not leave indifferent, but that work great in your outfit. Beautiful proposal … despite the pants. (LOL)

November 16, 2017 at 11:26 AMThanks so much, Josep-Maria! Yeah, I’m not totally convinced on the jeans either, but I do like to experiment! 🙂

No Fear of Fashion
November 15, 2017 at 2:44 PMGreat styling. Love everything. For me the cuff of the jeans could have been smaller (less high up), but I a always a bit behind with fashion. What a great outfit. Heads will have turned. The blue necklace and earrings are indeed so your style. I agree with your son about green being a lovely colour. Give my compliments to your husband for the excellent photos he has taken. Especially the one of your face with the fantastic sunglasses. They should hang that picture next to Mona Lisa and put a sign underneath yours, saying: Eat your heart out babe.

Hahaha, and thank you for the Mona Lisa compliment xx

November 16, 2017 at 3:08 AMI only have one comment to make this week, and that is to applaud you for taking your son shopping. I trained all four of my sons to tolerate and even enjoy their trips with me to shop. They still do. Okay fine, two comments. The green booties are to-die-for.
Lisa
November 16, 2017 at 11:21 AMI think it is good training too; if I have to go to the dinosaur museum once a week and take part in his things, he can spare a few minutes here and there to enter (and ENJOY!) Mommy’s world. Yeah, he had good taste with those booties, didn’t he?! xx

November 16, 2017 at 10:44 PMIf I could only still wear 3″ heels, I’d be all over those boots! They are gorgeous. And so perfect with the yellow coat.
Lisa
November 17, 2017 at 9:27 PMThank you Susan! I’m really pleased with them; they’re shockingly comfortable for a heel that high. xx

November 22, 2017 at 5:16 PMI love how you put all of this together! I also usually start with the shoes and dress up from there, but I am NO good at mixing colors. Those boots are ah-mazing! Of course I’ve adored the coat ever since you showed it the first time. The color is complete perfection. I’m getting back to life after moving, so…….just in time for the holidays, we shall see how this goes, lol.
