I first saw this light cotton khaki jumpsuit at Winser London’s press day. It was winter, but seeing this jumpsuit and some other pieces in the Spring Summer 2017 collection made me look forward to summer (my least favourite season, sartorially). As usual with Winser London, I appreciate the well thought out details that come from women designing clothes for women, like a flattering 3/4 length sleeve, pockets, a little bit of shape (for a jumpsuit, anyway), and a placket that neatly covers the snaps. I chose it in the khaki colour, because I am really making an effort to buy less black. I decided to wear this colour with red because, well… everything looks better with red, doesn’t it? To keep any Top Gun flight suit associations away, I did my Sequinist colour and sparkle thing. Quelle surprise!
Racy red shoes (worn before here) and some red sunglasses did part of the styling work. A rainbow striped bag and a rainbow coloured necklace did the rest.
Pulling the accessories together for this post reminds me that my rule of only buying what I truly love and can see a long future with serves me well. The shoes, the bag, and the necklace were all love at first sight accessories that I knew I’d get years of use from. If you only buy styles and colours that you really love, they will almost always work together and give you lots of outfit options. Also, the best part about buying accessories that are multicoloured is that they go with nearly EVERYTHING. The bag goes with almost every item of clothing I own. So does the necklace. I’m crazy about the mix of colours in this necklace; the opaque turquoise crystal mixed with all of the sparkly brights, with a few dark purple stones thrown in for contrast make it really versatile. I’ve worn it with jeans and a v-neck tee shirt, with a plain black shift dress, and with a red dress and coat outfit; it has been a winner with all of them.
I’m adding this colourful necklace into the Sequinist Shop in several lengths. If you are a more-is-more girl, there is the seven strand version like I am wearing. If you’re petite and think it might overwhelm you, I’d do a three or five strand version. If you just want a little hit of colour around your face, there will be a one strand version. I particularly like the oranges and reds in the necklace to work with a matching lipstick or lipgloss.
You’ll know from reading my blog that I’m a massive fan of Winser London; there is more Winser London in my closet than any other label. Starting on Tuesday this week, my friends Michelle (RetroChicMama), Nikki (Midlifechic), and I will be running a competition with them. The winner of this competition will win three things– my favourite piece from Winser London’s Spring and Summer collection (I own it from last year and wear it to death) plus Michelle’s favourite piece, as well as Nikki’s favourite piece. I can tell you that I’d be thrilled to have all three of these pieces. It will be live on The Sequinist Facebook page from Tuesday the 23rd, and is available internationally. Please enter! I’d LOVE for one of my readers to win it! (Am I allowed to tell you what the pieces are? I don’t know, but here they are. My pick is the Milano cotton hooded coat; it is casual and elegant and goes over so many things. Michelle’s favourite item is the Tilda silk blouse, and Nikki chose the single breasted blazer. The winner gets to choose the colour and size, of course).
Camouflaged!

So back to the jumpsuit, are you a jumpsuit wearer? I can’t remember wearing one since I was about 8, (a lavender one my grandmother made for me). I don’t think I’ll be buying any more, but I really enjoy wearing something so different from my usual style.
I have such a hectic and fun week ahead this week, starting with dinner tonight with the gorgeous Elizabeth from The Vintage Contessa and ending with the Chelsea Flower Show. If you are on Instagram, follow my stories to see LOTS of flowers and lots of London. And don’t forget to enter the Winser London competition! xx
Disclosure: Thank you to Winser London for gifting me the jumpsuit!

May 21, 2017 at 9:35 AMYou look stunning Lisa! I love how you added warm tones with accessories – those shoes are SO gorgeous! I don’t own a jumpsuit…yet, in fact I was browsing the internet last night for one but fell asleep before I found one that a) I like and will enjoy wearing, and b) one that will fit my long torso. I may have to buy a tall version and have the legs shortened. The search continues! Looking forward to seeing your photos of the flower show 🙂

May 21, 2017 at 1:51 PMThanks, Emma! I know there is a short sleeved one on Winser London’s website with a drawstring waist, which would work will with a long torso as the blouson top is adjustable. You might look there! You’d be a small in Winser because I’m a medium. xx

May 21, 2017 at 11:16 AMLisa, this is a very different look for you but one which really does suit. Khaki is such a flattering colour and is one I forget about. The necklace is stunning, (as is all of your jewellery) and the advice you give about choosing those colours that you love, makes such good sense. I’ll head over to your Facebook page and enter the competition too. I absolutely can’t wait to see you next week xxxxx

May 21, 2017 at 3:33 PMI hope you are using your closet as your guide when it comes to decorating because today’s post would be an amazing family room or den. Beginning with walls in the color of your jumpsuit and a khaki sofa and accessories in all those luscious colors. And yes to jumpsuits! You look svelte and strong. I will be ordering that! P.S. please give Elizabeth a hug from me!!
Lisa
May 21, 2017 at 9:54 PMYou know, you’re right, these colours WOULD make a cozy living area! I’m starting to get why jumpsuits are a thing. I wore these a few days later with some multicoloured glitter sneakers, and it all still worked well! I delivered your hug to Elizabeth; she is as delightful in person as she is online. I love that you two know each other too! xx

May 21, 2017 at 4:15 PMGreat look. I think as we grow older our necklaces should get bolder. They keep the eyes from the skin, think Iris Apfel.

May 26, 2017 at 9:13 PMYou’re right, Samantha! I never thought of it that way. I just like a mix of anything; I don’t like anything to look too done or planned. Thank you, my lovely. xx

May 26, 2017 at 7:39 PMI am not a jumpsuit wearer- but you have completely tempted me to be one with this look. I really LOVE this! Totally entering the contest. you look fabulous as always!

May 26, 2017 at 9:10 PMI’m not a jumpsuit girl either, but I think if you throw in some Studio 54 sparkle, it makes it work. Thank you, lovely Melissa. Good luck, it is such a great prize I’d like to win it myself! xx
melissa
May 26, 2017 at 9:12 PMWell YOU definitely rocked it! I seriously would have NEVER even thought of a jumpsuit for even half a second- but this looks so good! Perhaps it’s time to expand my horizons. Thanks for the inspiration!

May 27, 2017 at 4:04 AMDid you get it tailored? The fit is absolutely perfect on you.
I really like how you don’t shy away from wearing large amounts of sparkle during the day. Not quite sure how to work any more into my work wardrobe since I already wear a crystal-beaded lanyard.
Lisa
May 27, 2017 at 4:57 PMNo, no tailoring, just straight off the hanger! I have a really high waistline, and the waist is a little ‘dropped’ on me, but it still works since there is a lot of shape to this jumpsuit. I think I’d struggle if there was a drawstring or lots of extra fabric.
I love sparkle during the day; I get so many compliments on it… it just seems to make people (aside from me :-)) happy. I like the idea of having a wardrobe of sparkly accessories in different colour ways, so it doesn’t all look the same. xx
