Sequin socks… or ‘love at first sight’ for this blogger! I saw these on Instagram last autumn, and was determined to track them down. They’re made by the very edgy new label Off-White, whose work I love, but don’t have much occasion to wear…. except for the sequin socks! Those I can easily work into my wardrobe.
London was grey and cool for about a week, so I thought what better way to brighten up a dull day than to wear these sparkling socks with an all black outfit. Then what happens? The sun comes out, the day turns absolutely glorious, and I look like I’m a little confused about whether I’m going to a funeral or a disco. How dare the sun ruin my outfit plans! When it is grey and dreary (or evening), you don’t notice my chalky white legs so much, but on a bright day, they stand out and make the dress seem shorter than I’d like. Anyway, too late to change now, so here we go. Sequin socks and heeled sandals, people.
I wore these wondrous sequin socks with a pair of sandals that I’ve had for a while, but have avoided wearing because they were uncomfortable. The socks made them feel much better, surprisingly. I’m also wearing a Barbara Bui satin trench, which I have always called my spy coat, (seen in winter here) and a Winser London shift dress (seen before here).
I am so enamoured with the socks that the following day (back to grey and chilly) I wore them AGAIN. I styled them a little differently though. I wore them with my silver sequin skirt (which has been on the blog countless times) and a slouchy tuxedo blazer. I also decided to cut long lengths of black satin ribbon to tie around the ankle, so the sandals look a bit more like the ones Off-White shows with the socks. Look at me, all DIY!
If you need twinkling toes like I need twinkling toes, you can shop these silver sequins socks below. The ‘sole’ of the socks is thin black cotton, so they’ll work with some closed-toe shoes as well (I’m thinking they’ll be amazing with a block-heeled, Gucci-style loafer). I’m curious to see what you think of these. Like them, love them, or hate them?

May 14, 2017 at 10:46 AMLisa, without a doubt those socks were made for you! I love the way you’ve styled them with the ribbon, little Miss DIY 🙂

May 14, 2017 at 12:56 PMThank you, Michelle. I have to say I am LOVING them. Yes, aren’t I getting all crafty in my old age? What’s next, a crochet plant holder? xx

May 14, 2017 at 12:11 PMLove, love, love them. What? I adore them. I might even order them myself. You look fantastic in them. And how about that DIY? You got it exatly right. Clever girl. I like them with and without the extra ankle straps. They are so good.
Aren’t they awkward to feel? I find sequined items often a bit hard and scratchy. Great photos again. Cannot decide which one I like best. The once where you are crossing the street? Both outfits are equally great. The skirt outfit just gives more bling so it depends on the occasion.

May 14, 2017 at 1:02 PMSo glad I’m sequining up your wardrobe, Greetje! They aren’t awkward to feel because the sequins are just on the top and on the outside of the socks. The bottom and sides are just cotton so they feel ok. If you click on the Net A Porter shopping link at the bottom you can see a few more photos of them without shoes on to get a better idea.
I think they’ll be good with a bright coloured shoe too, I just don’t have any that will work. ON the list now though… xx

May 14, 2017 at 7:14 PMOh Lisa you are cruel and heartless!!!
I swooooooon at your socks (I think I might have let out a little squeal as the photo popped up).
I am then planning umpteen outfits that they would enhance…. then click through to buy…… my whimsical sock budget is not able to stretch to such luxurious hosiery…..curses!!!…. I sob….uncontrollably.
Okay, maybe I did not sob (:oP) but I am searching for a dupe/copy-cat/ almost-as-fabulous alternative.
You are a bad influence on my part-time NHS wage slip.
(Contemplates whether or not my two youngest REALLY need shoes or if they could run barefoot…hmmmmm???)

May 14, 2017 at 8:19 PMOhhhhhh yes, I can see that these would be right up your street as well, Sam! You and I share a house on Rue de Quirky! If you can’t find a dupe, they’d be super easy to DIY. I’m in the middle of a gigantic DIY project sewing sequins on a long duster coat because alas I could not afford the Dolce & Gabbana one. It does take time though… If I finish my coat in record time, I’ll make you a pair of socks 😀 xx

May 16, 2017 at 4:29 PMThat coat is something I want to see….it sounds fabulous!
(I am determined to find sequin socks, somewhere)

May 15, 2017 at 9:35 AMYou are a clever one 😉 The ribbon is genius!
They actually pass for boots in the first few shots Lisa. Who were those sequins boots by again? You know the ones you’d have to re-mortgage for…
xx
Lisa
May 15, 2017 at 10:11 AMThey really do look like boots… you can hardly tell they’re socks, really! The other boots were Saint Laurent, and they were Swarovski and about £7400 or something mad. xx

May 15, 2017 at 12:50 PMThis look is so super cool and I honestly love this socks!
When I first saw them on your IG feed I was so amazed. What a great purchase!
Have to check Off-White out more often I guess.
Have a wonderful day!

May 15, 2017 at 2:44 PMSuper chic feet! And the coat, which I loved with the lace skirt, is even more perfect here. Do you keep a chart in your closet of your matches? Or are you spontaneous? I’d love to hear the behind-the-scenes process of your editorial calendar. I mean, you have a young son, so I’m guessing it’s a bit serendipitous. Then again, you’re a numbers woman, so maybe not??
Lisa
May 16, 2017 at 3:23 PMI’m definitely spontaneous; I don’t keep charts and I don’t plan much. Some might use the word chaos, but I prefer your word, ‘serendipitous.’ I think that is why I am such a dreadful packer! I am of the opinion that if you only buy things you adore, it mostly all works together. xx

May 15, 2017 at 2:57 PMWhen I saw the tittle I thought: No way! But then there she goes! And OMG you look absolutely stunning! It’s the first time see those, so double stunner. Since you obviously have everything with sequins Lisa, I’m curious to see what you’ll come up with next? Sequin underwear maybe? Speaking of which I personally own two intimate items with sequins, a red Gucci bikini and a black Louis Vuitton one (neither has been worn in public yet). Are you up for the challenge? Lots of love! xx Abby
Lisa
May 16, 2017 at 3:18 PMI’ve had plenty of people send me links to sequin underwear and tank top sets 🙂 I’m thinking, I’m thinking… I may have to take you up on your challenge, Abby! Now that I think of it, I do have a black bikini with silver sequin flowers on it, sa I’m almost there. xx

May 16, 2017 at 12:26 AMDo they work with regular shoes like loafers? I think I would like to wear them with my regular shoes (black loafers) along with the rest of my casual outfit.
Lisa
May 16, 2017 at 3:16 PMI think they would, as long as the loafers aren’t too tight. The socks are thin cotton. They’d be great with a casual outfit, so unexpected and cheeky! xx

May 16, 2017 at 7:08 PMOMG sequined silver socks! They suit your style and name of your blog to perfection, Lisa. Love them so much and how bold and awesome you styled them. They match the pencil skirt perfectly and look elegant with that tuxedo blazer but I love them in the first all black look.
Hope you enjoyed Mother’s Day Weekend! Welcome by the blog and join my weekly linkup on Thursdays. It will go live tomorrow Wed night at 6.00 PM EST. Thanks, Ada. =)
