If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that last week I was lucky enough to attend London’s Chelsea Flower Show with my blogger BFFs from The Over 40 Collective. MADELEINE Fashion treated all of us to the outfit of our choice and an entire day at the Flower Show. MADELEINE is a German brand that specialises in high quality classic clothes with a twist; there is always a detail that elevates it above being a purely classic line. We were given VIP treatment at Jardin Blanc, a private section of the venue where celebrity chef Raymond Blanc made us breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea. The food was fantastic, as were the cocktails, the champagne, the photographer, and everything else. I’ve been to the Chelsea Flower Show several times before in my previous life as a banker, but I’ve never had as much fun as I did this year! I didn’t take as many photos of the actual flower show itself as I would have liked… mainly because it was so swelteringly hot and sunny that traversing through the huge venue was less appealing than staying holed up in our luxurious corner, but also because I was having so much fun catching up with my friends that I almost forgot about the flowers! Have a look at the photos below, and you’ll see what I mean.
The outdoor cocktail bar of dreams
Our mixologist, taking his duty very seriously
Lunch, with its own herb garden for garnishes
Afternoon tea
A lot of this happened (ring available in my shop)
So, here is the skirt that I chose for the day– a black midi skirt with a 1/4 panel of pleated striped satiny chiffon. It hangs beautifully and has a lot of swishy movement in the panel. I saw it at the MADELEINE press day last autumn, and knew I had to have it. I honestly think I’ll get more wear out of it in winter than in summer, but at least it is safely in my closet now! I see it being worn best with a short biker jacket and heels, or with a fitted red cashmere sweater and a pair of boots. On the hottest day of the year though, I opted for a white tank top, a loose white linen jacket, and sandals.

Nikki and I are unintentionally very coordinated
Here is a photo of all of us together. What I find really interesting is that all of us have such different styles, yet we were all able to find things that work for us from one brand. When we arrived that day, I fell a little bit in love with Catherine’s breezy pearl-embroidered pyjama-chic outfit. How had I not seen that on the site? Well, I probably had, but just didn’t notice how fabulous it is until I saw it in person. I almost went for a cobalt blue trouser suit just like the red one Annette is wearing, but… I had to have that skirt.

The four of us snuck out to go see some flowers
I just have to show you this wall of flowers without us in front of it; the smell was beautiful
‘Three sisters and the milkman’s child’, as Catherine calls this photo!
I am mad about white flowers, so this creamy rose captivated me
Fashion and food
Gin cocktails to finish a splendid day
This post and our clothes were sponsored, but all content and opinions are mine. A huge thank you to MADELEINE Fashion for the amazing day you gave us. We loved the experience and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our time together.

June 6, 2017 at 7:14 AMYou had me laughing out loud with Catherine’s remark “three sisters and the milkman’s child”. Hahaha. Didn’t know you had that expression in English too.
